This notice explains what data Volcoholics collects, why, and what third-party services this site uses. We've written it to be readable rather than to fill a legal checkbox.
Who We Are
Volcoholics is an independent hazard monitoring and live streaming channel based in the United Kingdom. We operate the website at volcoholics.co.uk and live streams on YouTube and other platforms. For data questions, contact us via the contact page.
What We Collect and Why
Contact form submissions
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your details with third parties. Messages are sent via our server and stored only as long as needed to handle your query.
Live viewer count
The Live Earthquake Tracker page displays an approximate count of active visitors. To produce this count, our server briefly logs a one-way hash of your IP address and browser user-agent string combined — this hash cannot be reversed to identify you. It is stored in a temporary server file, expires automatically after ten minutes, and is never shared or used for any other purpose. No cookie is set in your browser.
Server logs
Like all web servers, ours automatically logs basic request data — IP address, pages visited, browser type and timestamps. These logs are used for security and diagnostic purposes only, are not shared, and are retained for a short period before automatic deletion.
Cookies
This website does not set any first-party cookies. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any similar technology on our own pages.
We do not require your consent to visit this site because we are not setting cookies or using tracking technologies that require it under UK PECR.
Third-Party Services
Some pages load resources from external providers. We have no control over their data practices — links to their privacy policies are provided below.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to request access to any personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its processing. Given the limited data we hold, most requests can be handled quickly. Contact us via the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.
If you have a concern about how we handle data that we have not resolved to your satisfaction, you can contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to This Notice
If we make material changes to this notice we will update the date at the top of the page. We will not reduce your rights under this notice without clear notification.
